Lakers forward Ronny Turiaf was ejected early in the second quarter of Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Jazz on Sunday for a flagrant foul. Turiaf knocked Utah's Ronnie Price hard to the floor as Price drove for a layup, leaving the Jazz guard with a bloody gash over his right eye.

Sun, 11 May 2008 10:57:20 PDT

Novak Djokovic of Serbia, right, hugs Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland after winning the men's final match at the Rome Master tennis tournament, in Rome, Sunday, May 11, 2008. Djokovic won 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Having already displayed his prowess on hard courts this season, Novak Djokovic is showing he's capable of dominating on clay, too. Djokovic won the 10th title of his career Sunday, rallying to beat unseeded Stanislas Wawrinka 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 at the Rome Masters. "I was aiming for Rome and Roland Garros as my two priorities on clay courts this season," Djokovic said.

Marlins win seventh straight, beat Nats ...
Sun, 11 May 2008 15:24:19 PDT

Florida Marlins' Jeremey Hermida, left, is congratulated by teammate Alfredo Amezaga, center, after hitting a two-run home run to tie the game against the Washington Nationals in the eight inning a baseball game, Sunday, May 11, 2008, in Washington. Washington Nationals catcher Jesus Flores walks away at right. Florida won 5-4.

Dan Uggla has no explanation for his sudden power surge. Uggla's second home run on Sunday was a go-ahead drive in the eighth inning that lifted the Florida Marlins to their seventh straight win, 5-4 over the Washington Nationals. Uggla had seven RBIs and three homers in the final two games of Florida's three-game series sweep; he hit a grand slam and had five RBIs Saturday.

Braun's 2 HRs get Brewers past Cards 5-3 ...
Sun, 11 May 2008 15:53:34 PDT

Milwaukee Brewers' Corey Hart (1), Tony Gwynn (22) and Ryan Braun celebrate after the ninth inning of a baseball game against the St. Louis Cardinals Sunday, May 11, 2008, in Milwaukee. The Brewers won 5-3.

The ninth inning for the Milwaukee Brewers' new closer by committee was as adventurous as some of Eric Gagne's recent outings. There was one difference, though: the Brewers held on for the win. With Gagne yanked from the closer's role Sunday after faltering in back-to-back outings, relievers Salomon Torres and Brian Shouse helped make Jeff Suppan's seven solid innings stand up by holding on for a...

Sorenstam pulls away from Ochoa for win ...
Sun, 11 May 2008 15:06:42 PDT

Jeong Jang, of South Korea, rocks back on her heels after missing a putt on the 15th hole during the final round of the Michelob Ultra Open LPGA Golf tournament at the Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Va., Sunday, May 11, 2008. Jang shot a 1-under-70 to leave her at 12-under for the tournament.

Annika Sorenstam is on her way back, and a performance that harkened memories of her game before an injury-filled 2007 season suggests she's close. "That's the way I used to play," Sorenstam said Sunday after hitting every fairway and almost every green in a 5-under-par 66 that made her the runaway winner of the Michelob Ultra Open with a tournament-record 19-under 265.

Rays finish sweep of Angels with 8-5 win ...
Sun, 11 May 2008 15:25:21 PDT

Tampa Bay Rays' Carlos Pena, left, is presented with the Louisville Slugger Silver Slugger Award by Lery Duran, a Louisville representative, as part of the American League's 2007 all-offense team for the first base position prior to a baseball game against the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday, May 11, 2008, in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Carl Crawford has played more games for Tampa Bay than any player in team history, so it was fitting that he delivered the blow that lifted the Rays into uncharted territory. The surging Rays climbed five games over .500 for the first time in the club's 11 seasons, with Crawford hitting a three-run homer, stealing two bases and scoring twice Sunday to pace an 8-5 victory over the Los Angeles...

Beltran, Church HRs lift Mets past Reds ...
Sun, 11 May 2008 15:54:36 PDT

Cincinnati Reds manager Dusty Baker, center, talks to home plate umpire Dale Scott, left, about the lineup as Corey Patterson (23) looks on as they played the New York Mets during the ninth inning of their baseball game at Shea Stadium in New York, Sunday, May 11, 2008. The Reds batted out of order in the inning after an earlier double switch, with backup catcher David Ross coming to the plate in the No. 8 spot instead of Patterson.

Oliver Perez plays baseball like a kid in a school yard -- hitting, pitching, stealing bases, experimenting with different arm angles. All were on display in the New York Mets' 8-3 win over the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday in which the left-hander earned his first win since April 19. "He might drive you nuts every once in a while," New York manager Willie Randolph said, "but he competes, man." The...
